‘Completely changed it’: Tyler Adams thinks 29-year-old Leeds United player was absolutely brilliant in second-half vs Arsenal

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams spoke to yesterday and thinks Patrick Bamford was absolutely brilliant in the second-half against Arsenal.

Jesse Marsch’s men fell to a 1-0 defeat against the Gunners at Elland Road but deserved to take more from the game.

Arsenal were arguably the better side in the first-half and Bukayo Saka made the most of a misplaced Rodrigo pass to give them the lead.

But Leeds came out firing after half-time as Bamford replaced the Spaniard to lead the line for Marsch’s men.

The English striker was in the thick of the action as he had a goal ruled out, missed a penalty and thought he had earned another one in stoppage time.

Despite putting his effort from the spot wide of the post, Adams was full of praise for the 29-year-old after the game.

Adams thinks Bamford was brilliant

“I feel for him a little bit, but he came into the game and completely changed it,” .

“So he should have confidence moving forward that when he’s in those situations, especially in front of the goal, that he’s going to put them away.

“The team has complete confidence in him, so yeah, he’ll get one.”

Bamford was unlucky to see his goal ruled out. Referee Chris Kavanagh judged the player to have fouled Gabriel Magalhaes right before he smashed the ball past Aaron Ramsdale.

The Leeds striker may have been slightly put off while taking his penalty after Ramsdale guessed the right way, which caused him to drag his effort just wide.

The Englishman thought he had earned his team a penalty in stoppage time too. Gabriel kicked out at Bamford after a tussle in Arsenal’s penalty area.

Kavanagh initially pointed to the spot and sent the Gunners defender off. But the decision was overturned by VAR and Arteta’s men were awarded a free-kick.

It was an unfortunate day for Bamford but he caused the Arsenal defence big problems after coming on at half-time.

Marsch will be disappointed that his side couldn’t make the most of their opportunities but should be encouraged by Bamford’s display.
