Collymore hints Nuno should suggest Spurs sell star and target 30-year-old

Stan Collymore that Nuno Espirito Santo should want Tottenham to sell Harry Kane in January – and then consider a move for someone like Raul Jimenez.

What’s the story?

Kane is one of several figures associated with Spurs coming in for criticism following Sunday’s North London Derby display.

The 28-year-old was one of several Tottenham players who produced an abject performance at the Emirates.

He completed just five passes during the game (). And only one of his five shots found the target.

Of course, it comes off the back of a turbulent summer for the England captain. He was heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Despite staying, he is yet to convince fans that he remains fully committed to his current club with the wait for his first Premier League goal of the campaign still going.

Nuno is now coming under pressure. But Collymore has expressed some sympathy for the Portuguese, and suggested that he should push for the club to let Kane go in January.

: “Whatever the coming weeks hold, he is already in a position to say, ‘Daniel, you employed me to do a job here, but how can I do a job when the main man is not looking good, that’s starting to impact on the other players?

“‘What if we get £100million, £105m for Harry? Let me look at the options to be able to buy a Raul Jimenez, for example, let’s freshen things up in two or three positions, which we could do with that sort of money’.”

Kane surely more likely to be at Tottenham beyond January than Nuno

More and more clubs are becoming reluctant to do significant business in the January transfer window.

With that in mind, it is hard to see Kane leaving in the winter. Spurs have to be prepared to sell. But also, a club such as Manchester City must be prepared to pay for him at that stage also.

In fact, it seems much more likely that Kane will be at Tottenham beyond the January window right now than Nuno.

The Spurs boss has a mountain to climb to silence his doubters. And as things stand, it is hard to see Daniel Levy siding with his current boss if he recommends Kane being sold.
