‘Coach’s dream’: Garth Crooks raves about Liverpool star Gini Wijnaldum
BBC Sport pundit named Gini Wijnaldum in his for his performance during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League.
The midfielder was in fine form as a Jonny Evans own goal, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino ensured a comprehensive victory for the reigning champions at Anfield.
Wijnaldum was heavily linked with a move from Liverpool to Barcelona in the summer but he’s parked that interest and showed a professional persona so far this season.

Crooks was delighted with his showing against Brendan Rodgers’ team at the weekend and raved about him during his weekly Team of the Week piece.
“I’m surprised this lad is still at Anfield. At one point I was almost certain that fellow Dutchman Ronald Koeman was going to take him to Barcelona.
“It made sense, of course. Wijnaldum is perfect for the Spanish giants but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp didn’t even dignify the rumours with a response and it wasn’t long before it was clear he was going nowhere.
“For me, the Netherlands international is a coach’s dream. He works his socks off in every game and, in the absence of Jordan Henderson, is the player who lined the back four to the front three.”
TBR View – Liverpool must move heaven and earth to keep Wijnaldum
He might be 30 and out of his contract in the summer but right now he’s proving integral to the way in which Liverpool play under Jurgen Klopp.

Wijnaldum has started eight of Liverpool’s nine games this season and he’s more than convinced that he is worthy of a short extension to his existing deal.
The ace might have been a welcome departure before a ball was kicked during 2020/21.
With injury problems stacking up fro Klopp, however, he can ill-afford to lose the influential Wijnaldum.
