Clubs have looked at ‘extraordinary’ West Ham United target, but scouts are unsure he can make it in PL – journalist

West Ham United have been linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers’ Ben Brereton Diaz this summer, .

Reports have suggested that the Hammers are looking to sign the ‘extraordinary’ Bereton Diaz to partner their new signing Gianluca Scamacca.

Leeds United have also reportedly bid for the Blackburn man but it seems that scouts at Premier League clubs are unsure on the player.

Brereton Diaz scored 22 goals in the Championship last season and has already opened his account for the new campaign.

Scouts unsure Brereton Diaz can make it

Football journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Brereton Diaz is not a top target for Leeds and that several Premier Clubs have looked at him during the last two transfer windows.

But top scouts from these clubs apparently have doubts over his all-round game as a striker.

Brereton Diaz has enjoyed a real breakthrough year at Blackburn and even made his debut for Chile in last year’s Copa America.

Both West Ham and Leeds have been linked with moves for attacking reinforcements this summer but it remains to be seen if David Moyes wants another striker after signing Scamacca.

But Premier League clubs clearly have some doubts over the player’s ability to step-up to the top league in England.

Many players have stepped up brilliantly over the years so Brereton Diaz could be a great gamble for Premier League sides.

At just 23, the Chile international has plenty of time to improve and has already shown a brilliant eye for goal at Blackburn.

He’s already scored four times for his national side and has experience playing in England, so the signing would not be a huge gamble for either West Ham or Leeds.

Both Jesse Marsch and David Moyes may yet decide to take a gamble on the striker later in the window but for now, it seems that scouts have doubts over his all-round game.
