Club says ‘exceedingly good’ Spurs-linked centre-back will be a free agent this summer

Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Jerome Boateng will be a free agent this summer, it has been confirmed.

Spurs, along with Arsenal, were linked with the Bayern Munich defender back in January, claiming they had an eye on him in the summer.

There has been plenty of speculation about Boateng’s future this future, given his contract expires at the end of the season.

And Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has now confirmed that the 32-year-old will not be offered an extension.

“Jerome’s contract expires in the summer. It will not be extended,�Salihamidzic told Sky Germany �via �on Wednesday. “He will leave �hopefully with titles.�/p>

Boateng has made 31 competitive appearances for Bayern this season and 355 overall since his move to the Allianz Arena from Manchester City in 2011.

The Germany international has two Champions Leagues, eight Bundesliga titles and five German Cups at Bayern, as well as the 2014 World Cup with his nation.
