Club forced into late move as Liverpool and Newcastle eye their £38m star
Liverpool and Newcastle United appear to have themselves in a bit of a transfer tussle as the summer transfer window ticks down.
Arne Slot‘s side have enjoyed the perfect start to their Premier League campaign with two wins from two, as worries over Jurgen Klopp’s exit begin to fade.
Newcastle United remain unbeaten from their two games but got a bit of a lucky escape last time out against Bournemouth as they had a late goal ruled out controversially.
When it comes to transfers, the Magpies have been the busier with five signings already under the belt, whereas Liverpool have been much slower.
Although, Giorgio Mamardashvili set to join Liverpool and Federico Chiesa’s move to Anfield is edging closer, so it appears as if the Reds have simply bided their time.
RB Leipzig move for Antonio Silva after Liverpool and Newcastle interest in Mohamed Simakan
Both Newcastle and Liverpool have an interest in signing Mohamed Simakan before the Premier League transfer window shuts.
And, it appears as if their interest has forced his current club RB Leipzig into making a move for a defender as an official approach has now been made for Antonio Silva, according to Florian Plettenberg.

Who needs Simakan more?
Mohamed Simakan predominantly plays as a centre-back but also has the versatility to play at right-back too, which makes him an even more exciting target.
Newcastle have been looking at right-backs with Kieran Trippier wanting to leave, and they’ve had a centre-back in their sights all summer, so he could be the perfect edition.
Howe does like his versatile players with Dan Burn being a prime example of that having been transformed into a left-back at times.
On the flip side, Liverpool have already let Sepp van den Berg leave for Brentford and now only have Ibrahim Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Jarell Quansah and Nathaniel Phillips as their centre-back options, so there’s certainly room for further depth in that area.
Simakan, who it was claimed wanted to leave earlier on in the window, could cost £38 million, which is well in Newcastle’s budget and the Reds have raised funds from Van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho leaving.
