Club are convinced Tottenham will sign their £20.8m player at the end of the season
Tottenham are building a strong squad under Ange Postecoglou – but more arrivals are expected in 2025.
Spurs currently sit eighth in the Premier League after a mixed start to the season, but only Manchester City and Chelsea have scored more than Tottenham’s 18 goals so far this term.

The likes of Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, Pape Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Mikey Moore all represent a bright future for the north Londoners.
Now, a 23-year-old talent is expected to join Tottenham at the end of the season in Johnny Cardoso.
Real Betis expect Tottenham to sign Johnny Cardoso
A story from now states that Real Betis are convinced Spurs will sign the United States international from them before July 2025.
In case you missed it, Tottenham agreed a €25m (£20.8m) option to buy Cardoso as part of the agreement to sell Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis for just £8.4m back in August.
Spurs have until July 1st 2025 to activate this option, and ABC Sevilla state that those inside Real Betis believe it is already a foregone conclusion that Tottenham will sign the 23-year-old defensive midfielder.

That would appear to bode well for Tottenham fans, as the Spanish news outlet only made the claim while writing a glowing review of Cardoso’s performance against Atletico Madrid on Sunday, as Real Betis recorded a 1-0 win.
Interestingly, Mauricio Pochettino could also influence how Cardoso performs at Tottenham, as the Argentine is now the Real Betis No.4’s manager for the United States.
Cardoso could unlock Ange Postecoglou’s midfield
As things stand, Postecoglou has a lot of talented midfielders, but none who truly excel when it comes to marshalling the middle of the pitch and keeping things compact like a traditional defensive midfielder would.
In the likes of Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Yves Bissouma, Tottenham have an array of midfielders who like to carry the ball or gatecrash the box to finish off moves.
That is all well and good, but it contributes to Tottenham’s matches looking more akin to a basketball game, in which the play is often end-to-end with Spurs lacking much control of proceedings.
In Cardoso, Tottenham could finally secure the No.6 Postecoglou needs to unlock his more adventurous midfielders, and give Spurs a lynchpin who can organise the midfield, like Rodri at Manchester City.
