Club already weighing up selling player after signing them from Everton this summer

Everton have endured a difficult summer transfer window coupled with a poor start to life back in the Premier League.

The Toffees lost key midfielder Amadou Onana to Aston Villa with Sean Dyche’s signings this summer doing little to instil belief amongst Everton supporters that they can acquire Premier League safety in a comfortable fashion.

Although Everton are closing in on a deal for Orel Mangala, the Merseyside club might need more if they’re to drum up support on what can happen this season in what will be their final year playing at Goodison Park.

And one player sold by Everton this summer is already in a nightmare situation.

Atalanta already considering Ben Godfrey sale weeks after joining from Everton

According to , the Serie A side are already considering selling Ben Godfrey just mere weeks after Atalanta brought the defender from Everton to Bergamo in a £10m transfer.

As per the report, Atalanta’s coaching staff are noticing that the former Norwich City star is ‘struggling’ in training, with Godfrey not featuring at all in the Italian side’s recent league game against Torino.

With Godfrey struggling for form at Everton before moving to Atalanta, it makes sense why the two-time England international is struggling with his new club, even though Gian Piero Gasperini’s side seem like a good fit for the 26-year-old.

Indeed, Atalanta selling Godfrey just weeks after signing him would be nothing short of crazy, and the defender will want to prove himself at his new club after being sold by Everton this summer.

Godfrey needs to prove himself at Atalanta before January

The odds of Atalanta actually selling Godfrey weeks after signing him seem low, to say the least, with the defender hardly given a chance to prove himself with his new team in a brand new division and culture.

Which is why the centre-back needs to show his Atalanta what he’s capable of why the Bergamo side made the interesting decision to bring the Everton defender to Serie A in the first place.

Godfrey has show over the years that he can be a top centre-back when called upon, and at this stage in his career, Godfrey will need to prove himself at the highest level if he’s to stand a chance at succeeding with Atalanta.
