Clive Tyldesley makes Rangers contract claim during commentary of 2-1 win against Real Madrid

Rangers produced an excellent display to beat Real Madrid on Sunday evening as Ibrox welcomed fans back into the ground. During commentary, Clive Tyldesley spoke about reports that Connor Goldson is about to sign a new deal. He claims an announcement could coming in the “next few days”.

While Isco prodded Real Madrid into a first-half lead at Ibrox, Rangers came roaring back in the second 45. Fashion Sakala was up front, and the new signing netted on 55 minutes to equalise. Then, substitute Cedric Itten got his third goal of pre-season with a neat finish on the turn.

A brilliant win. During the first half, though, Tyldesley brought up reports from over the weekend that defender Goldson is about to sign a new deal. the 28-year-old will sign a new three-year contract. Tyldesley pretty much stated the rumours are true.

“The rumours are becoming more true, that Goldson has an agreement in principle. An announcement is likely to come in the next few days,” Tyldesley said during commentary on (Sunday, 6.05PM), alongside ex-Rangers star and Kelty Hearts gaffer Kevin Thomson.

Goldson is the defensive heartbeat at Rangers and must be kept, amid Tyldesley claim

His form last season was unquestionable. Goldson played every single minute of all 56 league and cup matches at the back, helping Rangers amass an enormous 34 clean sheets. Goldson also scored eight goals. Clearly, he is absolutely pivotal to the direction Rangers are going.

Getting the ex-Brighton man pinned down on a new deal, with his current contract expiring in 12 months time, is absolutely integral. So, the reports from the Record and the claim from Tyldesley should come as music to the ears of Rangers fans regarding £3.5million signing Goldson.
