Clive Allen says Tottenham youngster was the catalyst for his side’s victory v AZ

Tottenham Hotspur looked to make it three wins in a row in the Europa League as they hosted AZ in North London on Thursday night.

Mikey Moore and Timo Werner came close for Spurs in the first half, the latter missing a great one-on-one chance to open the scoring.

Tottenham also had to withstand several chances from AZ, with Fraser Forster making a good save at a corner.

Spurs were quick out of the blocks in the second half and won a penalty when Lucas Bergvall was brought down in the box.

Richarlison took the penalty after a discussion with James Maddison, and the Brazilian dinked the ball down the middle for his first goal of the season.

Tottenham did enough to record a 1-0 win and, according to Spurs legend Clive Allen, one of their young stars played a big part in the victory.

“The goal was a result of the positive start at the start of this second half, led by Mikey Moore,” he said. “Richarlison is back scoring.”

Moore gave a great account of himself on his full home debut, regularly surging down the left and causing no end of trouble to the opposition.
