‘Class player’: Tottenham think they have an 18-year-old gem coming through now
Tottenham have a number of talented young defenders on their books right now.
The likes of Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin are both very young, while there are a number of teenage stars on the books as well.
Luka Vuskovic is yet to arrive at Spurs, but he looks like a real talent, while Ashley Phillips is shining out on loan at Plymouth.
There’s another talented young defender coming through at Tottenham right now in the shape of Alfie Dorrington, and according to Jack Pitt-Brooke and Charlie Eccleshare, speaking on people within Tottenham really rate Dorrington highly.

Alfie Dorrington is rated highly
The two journalists spoke about how highly Dorrington is rated.
“The other one we haven’t mentioned is Alfie Dorrington, he hasn’t had the same experience Phillips has, but I gather he’s very highly rated in the building and maybe better on the ball than Phillips is one theory I’ve heard,” Pitt-Brooke said.
“He’s really highly thought of, he’s injured at the moment which is a shame for him, but yeah he’s supposedly a class player, really good on the ball,” Eccleshare added.
Someone will miss out
It’s so exciting to see the amount of defensive talent coming through at Tottenham right now, but, for one or two of these players, the reality is they will never make it at Spurs.
Between Van de Ven, Vuskovic, Dragusin, Phillips, Dorrington and even Cristian Romero, there are almost too many defenders vying for a starting centre-back role at Tottenham over the next few years, and someone will have to miss out.
By the sounds of it, Dorrington has as good a chance as anyone to break into the Spurs first-team, and it’s certainly exciting to ponder what sort of future this young man will have in the game.
