‘Class act’: Jermaine Jenas stunned 26-year-old Tottenham target got subbed off at the World Cup yesterday

Jermaine Jenas has lavished praise on reported Tottenham target Daichi Kamada at the World Cup with Japan yesterday.

Kamada played his part as Japan stunned Spain and Germany to top their group and set up a last 16 clash with Croatia.

Japan went ahead in that game yesterday afternoon but Ivan Perisic pegged them back before the game went to a penalty shoot-out.

Kamada was taken off on 75 minutes and was not on the pitch during the shootout, when three of his teammates missed.

Jenas on Kamada

On coverage of the game, Jenas said that decision surprised him and praised the 26-year-old’s performance on the night.

On co-commentary, Jenas said: “Really surprised Kamada has come off the pitch, he’s been a class act tonight.”

Spurs were linked with Kamada during the summer transfer window, when they failed to add a truly creative midfielder to their ranks.

Kamada’s may draw Spurs in to look at a January move at a potential bargain price and his performances at the World Cup will have caught the eye.
