Chris Wheatley says on Instagram it is ‘highly likely’ that Arsenal player will leave, agent talking to clubs

Football London reporter that it is “highly likely” Hector Bellerin will leave Arsenal this summer. The right-back dropped out of the starting XI towards the end of the season, replaced by Calum Chambers. Plenty of clubs have been linked from Italy and Spain.

Bellerin, 26, started the 2020-21 campaign as first choice under Mikel Arteta but in the last 13 Premier League games of the season, he played just three. He only started two of those. He has now entered the final two years of his £110,000-a-week () contract with the North London club.

With the likes of Real Betis, Inter Milan, PSG and Barcelona all linked with Bellerin among others, CBS recently reported his asking price had been lowered to £20million. Now, Football London reporter Wheatley has responded about Bellerin’s future on his Instagram story during a Q&A.

It has become stale for Bellerin at Arsenal, amid Wheatley comments

Bellerin is an excellent right-back. He has the ability to be one of Europe’s best right-sided defenders. But at Arsenal, the feeling is that it has become a bit stale for the Spaniard. He is not producing his best. He is not around the kind of player he feels he should be. A transfer is needed.

One of Arsenal’s highest earners, he needs to be sold and if the Gunners can get £20million for him then so be it. A good fee, it also gets plenty off the wage bill. It would allow Arsenal to bring in a player like Max Aarons on a much smaller wage – with potential to kick on and become a top defender.
