Chris Sutton tears into departing Rangers star after farewell message to Ibrox support
Chris Sutton has ridiculed Sheyi Ojo on Twitter after the Rangers loanee announced he would be leaving Ibrox at the end of the season with a farewell post to the Ibrox support on Instagram.
Ojo, 22, has announced that he will be returning to parent club Liverpool after a season on loan at Rangers in which he scored five goals and created seven more in 36 league and cup appearances. The England Under-21 star struggled towards the end.
The attacker’s highlight will certainly be his thunderous strike from the edge of the area to beat Dutch side Feyenoord 1-0 at Ibrox in the Europa League group stages, but Ojo could never turn glimpses of magic into consistency.
Ojo uploaded a video of his highlights on Instagram and posted a heartfelt message to Rangers fans on Instagram, claiming the Gers support were the best in the world “no doubt”. He also stated he made memories he would “never forget”.
Ojo is just another player that has joined Rangers with Liverpool connections since Gerrard took over. Ryan Kent, Jon Flanagan and Andy Firth have also turned out for the Gers, though Flanagan is due to leave this summer at the end of his contract.
Responding to Ojo’s Instagram upload, Celtic icon Sutton tore into the Rangers loanee by claiming he “talked a good game before kicking a ball”, after “I think Rangers are the best team in the league.”
