Chris Sutton suggests the two Premier League clubs Kalvin Phillips should have joined instead of West Ham

Chris Sutton has suggested that Kalvin Phillips should have joined Brighton & Hove Albion or Wolves over West Ham United.

It’s fair to say that Kalvin Phillips has ✃endured a pretty torrid start to l🎐ife at the London Stadium.

The 28-year-old left Manchester City on loan last month in search of more regular game time at West Ham

In his opening few games for the Hammers, he’s made costly errors leading to goals and was even sent off in𝔍 the 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest over the weekend.

West Ham have been in wretched form this year having failed to pick up a win in 2024. And Chris Sutton believes Phillips may have benefited from joining a club like Brighton or Wolves over David Moyes’ side.

Sutton suggests Phillips should have joined Premier League rivals over West Ham

Speaking on , Sutton was quizzed ove൩r Phillips’꧑ move to West Ham.

Mark Chapman asked: “Do you think it woul🌜d have 🍬been easier for him if he’d gone to Brighton or Wolves, where all the noise around clubs like that is really positive?

“Yeah, I think that’s a fair point,” Sutton said on the Mo🦩nday Night Club. “The other thing he said 🐻is that he lost his hunger during his 18-month period at Man City.

“I know myseꦑlf, if you are slightly 🥂off it, you get found out. And with all that is going on at West Ham and the way that he started, that may have affected him.

“He just hasn’t gotꦚ going. Everyt✨hing at this moment in time seems to be going against him but he has no choice, he just has to get through this.”

Phillips hasn’t exactly walked into an ideal situation at West💖 Ham given their recent run of form.

Moyes is also under increased pressure from the supporters after some lacklustre൲ displays๊ in recent weeks.

Nevertheless, Phillips has proven 🎉to be a top-quality operator and you’d have expected him to make a more positive start to life at the London Stadium.

Of course, the Englishma𓃲n may well take some time to get back up to full match sharpness after barely♋ playing for the past 18 months at City.

But his performances over the coming weeks will certainly need to improve🙈, especially with Moyes ꦐunder fire.
