Chris Sutton shares whether he thinks Ben White should be allowed to play for England again
Chris Sutton has now been having his say on whether he thinks Arsenal defender Ben White should play for England again in the future.
For a long time Ben White’s omission from the England fold felt like a muted subject.
Despite starring for Arsenal, White wasn’t playing for his country, and given he initially left the squad owing to “personal reasons” and asked his privacy to be respected, that did happen.
Speculation remained at minimum for a long while, even if the situation was incredibly puzzling.
White would be an obvious starter for his country, whether it’s at centre-back or on the right.
Of course, revealed yesterday that Ben White actually decided to reject playing for England because of a disagreement with Steve Holland.
That has since caused a lot of speculation and opinions, with some frustrated with White’s position, and some disappointed with how he was treated.
Of course, human nature is to imagine if there could be a way back for the Arsenal man in the England fold, and Chris Sutton has recently been considering exactly that.
Chris Sutton doesn’t see why Ben White shouldn’t be allowed to play for England again
Sutton was speaking on the ‘’ podcast today and although he seemed to think White had made a mistake, he didn’t see why he couldn’t play for England again.
When asked, the pundit simply said: “Why close the door? We all make mistakes.”
Of course, it is thought that Gareth Southgate could leave the England set up following the conclusion of the Euros this year, after all, he is now linked with the Manchester United job.
And given Holland is currently his assistant manager at England, there’s reason to believe he could follow Southgate out of the door if that so happens.
Therefore, it’s possible that White could make himself available to a different coaching set-up in the future, if the reports mentioned are indeed true.
And although a lot of Arsenal fans will probably be desperate to see White playing for his country again, they’re probably not too upset that he’s getting a rest right now with the title race in mind.
That being said, fans will still be very eager to hear an update on one Arsenal player who recently picked up an issue.
