Chris Sutton says Celtic tried to sign £22m Premier League star, under Brendan Rodgers
Chris Sutton has told that Brendan Rodgers ♉tried to sign Leicester City ace Timothy Castagne during his time as Hoops manager – having since landed Castagne for Leicester.
Castagne, 24, has made an excellent start to life at Leicester since his £22million () move to the Premier Lea෴gue from ambitious Serie A outfit Atalanta. Playing seven times, he has even had a hand in three goals.
However, the Belgium international has missed his country’s latest internat𒁃ional break due to a hamstring injury – which has also ruled him out of Leicester’s last four matches. It remains to be seen when he will return to action.
Celtic icon Sut💞ton, though, claimed Rodgers has been a long-term fan of the defender – claiming he tried to sign Castagne during his time as manager of the Scottish champions. Instead, he finally got his man, but for Leicester.
Sutton simply said: “Bren𝓀dan Rodgers tried to sign him when he was at Celtic. Then he moved to Atalanꦉta.”

TBR’s view – Castagne could have made Celtic a fortune
Castagne opted to join Atalanta for a fee in the region ⭕of £6million in 2017 after playing 99 times for the Belgian side, breaking into the team as a teenager. Just two years lat🐷er, and Atalanta have almost quadrupled their outlay.
A top, top player, Castagne is showing his quality with some excellent performances for Leicester already.ꦡ The Foxes boast a player that is already increasing his latest transfer fee – while Celtic will be forced to watch from afar.
