
Chris Sutton has applauded Rangers defender Connor Goldson for another commanding performance as Steven Gerrard’s side beat Lech Poznan in Poland 2-0 – despite a number of changes to his side, coverage of the match.
Rangers had already qualified for the knockout rounds of the competition but could still finish at the top of their group by matching Benfica’s result. They went one better, winning 2-0 while Benfica only managed a 2-2 draw with Standard Liege.
Goldson, 27, has been absolutely integral to Rangers this season. Even against Poznan with Gerrard making changes, the former Brighton defender was one of the first names on the team sheet again. He has played every single match for Rangers this term.
He has started and finished his 26 matches, helping Rangers keep their 20th clean sheet of the season – while also netted five goals, and he was inches away from a sixth before Ianis Hagi tapped in. Sutton raved about the centre-back.
