Chris Sutton has reacted to news that Atletico Madrid have launched a bid to sign Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.
The Dane continues to impress for the Hoops and has racked up 17 goal involvements in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Matt O’Riley also provided three assists in the Champions League before Celtic’s exit in the group stages, with one of them coming against Atletico.
The 23-year-old’s performances have clearly caught the attention of the La Liga giants.

Atletico have reportedly made a loan bid for O’Riley with an obligation to buy the Celtic star in the summer.
Now, former Celtic man Chris Sutton has reacted to the news on and urged his old club not to sell the Dane.
Sutton reacts to Atletico’s bid for O’Riley
Sutton took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday afternoon and admitted that while O’Riley could leave in the summer, Celtic shouldn’t consider sanctioning an exit mid-season.
He wrote: “Celtic can’t even consider selling now… O’Riley may end up going in the summer as we know the Celtic model but there’s a title to be won and that’s the priority right now…”
It’s hard to disagree with Sutton’s comments on O’Riley, especially as Atletico have seemingly offered to take the midfielder on loan initially.

Brendan Rodgers’ side currently sit eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, with Rangers sitting second with two games in hand.
It would make little sense for the Hoops to offload their star man in the middle of the park as Rodgers bids to deliver a title in his first full season back at Celtic Park.
The Bhoys would still be in a strong position to pick up a sizeable fee for O’Riley over the summer should they wish to cash in on the midfielder.
He’s also attracting interest from a host of top clubs and there could be more suitors in the summer.
