in a bid to urge Celtic to hand Ryan Christie a new contract – after three assists on Sunday. Christie was integral to Celtic’s 6-0 win over Dundee, after earning a place in the starting line-up again. His future is in doubt, but Sutton thinks Celtic need to keep him.
Christie, 26, is in the final year of his contract at Parkhead. that Southampton, Burnley and Leicester are eyeing a £5million move to sign the 20-time Scotland star. But clearly, Christie is still a crucial player for Celtic in this season’s title charge.
Following his glorious display on Sunday, in which new signing Kyogo Furuhashi got a hat-trick, Sutton has urged Celtic to hand Christie a new deal. The Celtic icon says chief executive Dom McKay and the club should be doing “everything they can” to keep Christie at Parkhead.
Sutton is right – keeping Christie crucial to Celtic title charge
Celtic have shown in the last couple of matches that they can go without Odsonne Edouard. The Frenchman, like Christie, is in the final year of his contract but Celtic have won the last two games since Edouard was dropped for Furuhashi. But it is different for Christie – Celtic have got to keep him.
Christie’s three assists is proof of that. His gorgeous bit of skill and turn of pace for Furuhashi’s second goal is impeccable. If Celtic are to have a chance in stopping Rangers this season, Christie must be kept in Glasgow.
