Chris Sutton drops bold Manchester United v Fulham scoreline prediction as definitive claim made ahead of FA Cup clash

Manchester United and Fulham are set to lock horns in the FA Cup this Sunday as both sides look to reach the quarter-finals.

The Red Devils have had a nightmare of a season, at least as far as the Premier League is concerned. They sit 14th in the table.

However, Manchester United remain in contention for two trophies this season. As well as the FA Cup, they’re also still in the Europa League.

Meanwhile, Fulham are ninth in the table and sit just five points below the top five, meaning a spot in Europe is very much within reach.

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has now predicted how Man United and Fulham will fare in Sunday’s fifth-round encounter at Old Trafford.

Chris Sutton backs Fulham to win 3-0 at Manchester United

Sutton acknowledged that Man United have beaten Fulham twice in the league this season, but he said neither victory was convincing.

He feels Fulham will “one hundred percent” win this game and predicted a comprehensive 3-0 win for the Cottagers.

“I am sick of backing Manchester United,” Sutton wrote on .

“Even though they beat Ipswich on Wednesday, they did not half make hard work of it and the Tractor Boys ran them close at Old Trafford.

“Alejandro Garnacho appeared to have a bit of a hissy fit after being hooked before half-time, so it will be interesting to see how Ruben Amorim deals with that.

“He won’t have any players left at this rate if he decides to leave Garnacho out.

“United are the FA Cup holders and they have beaten Fulham home and away already this season but on both occasions it was far from convincing, and I don’t really care about that anyway.

“Amorim is a likeable guy, and I’ve got sympathy for him about the size of his task at Old Trafford but, from watching United, I cannot think of any reason to back them to win this.

“I am usually wrong about Fulham, but they are going to take this one – 100 percent.”

Early Manchester United v Fulham team news

Man United will be without Patrick Dorgu for the Fulham game due to his red card against Ipswich, which will see him banned for three matches in English competition.

It remains to be seen whether Garnacho will be involved after appearing to react angrily to Amorim’s decision to substitute him against Ipswich to cover for Dorgu.

The Red Devils are set to remain without Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Jonny Evans.

As for Fulham, Emile Smith Rowe will miss out with a knock, while Sasa Lukic is suspended after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season against Wolves.

Reiss Nelson has undergone surgery and won’t be back until the end of the season, while Kenny Tete and Harry Wilson remain out.
