Chris Sutton claims Rangers defender Connor Goldson needs to show up v Celtic
Chris Sutton believes that Rangers defender Connor Goldson holds the key to the Old Firm clash against Celtic on Sunday.
Steven Gerrard takes his Rangers team to Parkhead to face their bitter rivals in the Scottish Premiership fixture and will be looking to avenge the League Cup final defeat to them.
The Gers currently sit second in the league table five points behind leaders Celtic, but do have a game to spare so a victory at the weekend would give them a huge boost in the title race.
Pundit Sutton feels that Rangers need their centre-back at his best for the Old Firm showdown.
The 27-year-old colossus has found it difficult at times against Celtic’s exciting attack and is likely to come under real pressure in the away fixture to them at the weekend.
“As far as I see it, it’s Connor Goldson who needs to show up if the Ibrox side are going to win a game they simply can’t afford to lose,”
“Odsonne Edouard has been too hot for him to handle since he’s been at Rangers.
“The Celtic striker’s movement, pace and finishing ability has terrorised the centre-back and various partners he’s had since the start of last season.”

TBR’s View:
Goldson will need to be the leader in the Rangers backline away to Celtic and it’s likely there will be times he will be tested, especially against a quality striker like Odsonne Edouard.
But Gerrard’s team proved they can more than stand their own against Neil Lennon’s side and they outplayed them for large parts of the cup final.
Rangers possess the attacking players to cause damage going the other way and it’s just about their entire defence staying switched on, rather than just one individual.
