Chelsea star and Tammy Abraham react on Instagram as Edouard Mendy shines
Chelsea went top of the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium. Edouard Mendy was the hero of the hour, producing a Man of the Match performance. After the game, he earned praise from Ben Chilwell and Tammy Abraham.
Mendy has been a stunning signing made by Chelsea. He cost the club just from Rennes and has already helped the Blues claim a Champions League title.
The 29-year-old penned a five-year deal with Chelsea in the summer of 2020. He had played 54 games for the club in all competitions, keeping 30 clean sheets.
Mendy has only conceded 34 goals and he rarely makes mistakes. He is firmly established as Thomas Tuchel’s number one goalkeeper and last night he was inspired.
The Senegal international made several big saves. Brentford piled the pressure on Chelsea after the Blues took the lead shortly before half-time against the Bees.
Mendy stood firm and Brentford perhaps won’t believe their luck that they met a goalkeeper in such inspired form.
The experienced stopper made 34 appearances for Rennes before heading to Stamford Bridge. He was perhaps an unknown quantity when he was signed, but not any more!
He’s now one of Europe’s top-performing goalkeepers and Chelsea are in really safe hands between the posts.

The left-back was the match-winner yesterday but it was perhaps the heroics of Mendy that earned the Blues their points.
Chilwell referred to the goalkeeper as ‘The Cat’ implying that his reflexes were on point between the posts.
Abraham departed Stamford Bridge in the summer. He’s now enjoying a new lease of life with Roma under Jose Mourinho.
He summed up the Mendy with a simple two-word response, suggesting there is nobody else to rival the Chelsea goalkeeper.
