Chelsea transfer: Report mentions new name as Blues seek striker

Chelsea are lining up a swoop for Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, . The uncompromising talisman went to Euro 2020 with Austria and is a wanted man.

It is thought that the Premier League outfit will face a battle to sign the striker. Stuttgart have already raised £34 million this summer and are not in a hurry to sell anyone else.

Chelsea have been linked with strikers all summer. Erling Haaland has been the most intense rumour, although Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku have also been mentioned.

It is claimed in the that Stuttgart will want to recoup £34 million for Kalajdzic. Chelsea would likely only add him as a backup option and that could represent a pricey deal.

The 24-year-old talisman shone during 2020/21. He found the net 17 times and also claimed six assists as Stuttgart enjoyed a pretty decent campaign.

His campaign ended by earning a place in Austria’s squad for Euro 2020. Two wins in Group C helped them progress to the last 16. Kalajdzic scored against Italy in the knockout match but was on the losing side against the eventual champions.

The striker could be a wanted man this summer, although Stuttgart will be demanding top whack for their main outlet in attack.

Future star: Kalajdzic would be a decent Chelsea signing

At 24 the youngster would fit the profile of a Blues signing down the ground. He would be added ahead of his best years and could spend many years at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea desperately need a striker. Olivier Giroud has joined AC Milan, whilst Tammy Abraham is wanted by several clubs and could be allowed to leave. Timo Werner managed just 11 strikes in his maiden Premier League season.

Kalajdzic would offer the Blues something different in attack. His uncompromising presence would add some physicality, whilst he doesn’t half have an eye for goal.

The Austrian might only be a backup option, to begin with, but he has the potential to become a big star in the future. As a result, Tuchel would be wise to act this summer.
