Chelsea scouts were in attendance to watch two Bayer Leverkusen stars in Champions League
- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Although Chelsea made significant strides in the transfer window this summer, Enzo Maresca seemingly still desires further adjustments to his squad in the future.
It was recently shared that Chelsea were considering a move for Marc Guehi, a player who might be interested in a shock return to Stamford Bridge.
Maresca’s new project is beginning to find pace, a cause that will always be helped when Cole Palmer is chipping in four goals.
That being said, a few of Palmer’s Chelsea teammates are playing for their futures right now, demonstrating the elite culture Maresca is trying to install.
Chelsea have financial muscle, and they won’t hesitate to improve their squad when they see an opportunity.
And with that in mind, TBR Football understands that Chelsea were represented at Bayer Leverkusen’s win over AC Milan on Tuesday evening.
Chelsea scouts watched Victor Boniface and Piero Hincapie during win over AC Milan
Chelsea scouts were in Germany to check on two players in particular, Victor Boniface and Piero Hincapie.
TBR shared last month that Boniface was on Chelsea’s radar earlier in the summer as they continue to look at adding a new striker in 2025.

And the ‘‘ Nigeria international is likely to have impressed Chelsea’s reps on Tuesday evening given he scored the only goal in Leverkusen’s 1-0 win.
Left-sided defender Hincapie has been watched regularly by Premier League clubs over the last 12 months and Chelsea are admirers of the Ecuador international.
Chelsea want to add another left-sided defensive option to Maresca’s squad in the near future.
Long-term, the likes of Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Benoit Badiashile are not deemed to be part of Chelsea’s plans.
It is also likely that AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez was checked on during the visit, a player Chelsea are also very keen on.
Robert Sanchez remains an issue for Chelsea
Of course, amid all of Chelsea’s transfer plans in the future, fans will probably be hoping that a firm number one arrives at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have a number of goalkeepers on their books, but ultimately if Sanchez is deemed the best right now then there’s still an issue.
Sanchez was criticised against Brighton – at fault for both of the away team’s goals.
Perhaps it is only a matter of time until Filip Jorgensen gets his chance, but it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if the 22-year-old was at a similar stage of his development to Djordje Petrovic.
In an ideal world perhaps Chelsea would replace Sanchez and keep Jorgensen as their number two, but it remains to be seen what Maresca has planned.
