Chelsea round-up: Terry hints at future; Liverpool target linked; Conte reacts to FA Cup win

John Terry is preparing for the next stage of his career by studying for his UEFA coaching badges, which he has combined with studying Portuguese, say the . It’s unclear what that could mean for his future, with no apparent interest from Portugal or Brazil, but could show the influence that Jose Mourinho still has on his former captain.

The club captain played the full 90 minutes for his side yesterday in their win over Wolves and looked commanding at the heart of a back three in defence where he has looked less convincing previously.

The  claim that Chelsea are preparing to do battle with Liverpool as they seek the signature of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud. The 21-year-old has only one more year left on his contract and whilst the Germans are keen to tie down their talent, they could be forced to sell this summer.

Rumours of a buy-out clause have been denied, but Dahoud’s calmness on the ball and defensive discipline could mean that he would be worth splashing the cash for if it comes to a bidding war with Liverpool for the German international.

With the Blues on course for a very successful campaign, such depth could be required, and Antonio Conte was keen to praise his side and their opposition after they reached the FA Cup quarter-final with a win over Wolves. He told the :

“It was the toughest game we have played in this competition so far for sure… Wolverhampton started the game very well with great intensity… They hit the post early on and we were lucky in this circumstance but in the second half we played our football, scored two goals and created chances, but Wolverhampton deserve my compliments.”

Chelsea were hard pushed in the clash, with Wolves hitting the post early on, but goals from Pedro and Diego Costa were enough to put the Premier League leaders into the quarter-final draw.
