Chelsea round-up: Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe watches Blues every week; interest in Cesc Fabregas; Kurt Zouma set for exit

It has been revealed that Monaco’s star striker Kylian Mbappe is a keen follower of Chelsea as speculation heats up over the 18-year-old’s future at the Champions League semi-finalists.  quote his uncle Pierre as revealing his favourite Premier League club, as he said:

“Kylian does not need to watch Juventus before their Champions League meeting because he already knows Juve very well. He watched their games every week and he’s been doing it for very long time. He also watches Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea. Anything can happen in the future, but he’s very happy at Monaco, we’ll talk about it [a possible transfer] at the right time.”

With 24 goals in 38 games this season in his breakthrough campaign, it is likely that the Blues are keeping an eye on the Frenchman too as he continues to be linked with a number of top European clubs, though Chelsea are not thought to be one of those really pushing for his signature.

Another player with an uncertain future is midfielder Cesc Fabregas as the  claim that both Liverpool and Manchester United have joined AC Milan and Inter Milan in the race to sign the Spaniard for a fee of £30 million. Fabregas, who celebrates his 30th birthday on Thursday, has two years left on his £170,000 per week contract.

The World Cup winner has struggled to convince Antonio Conte that he deserves a regular role in midfield and is likely to face increased competition next season with Tiemoue Bakayoko among those to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. £30 million would represent a great fee for a player with just 10 Premier League starts this season.

He could be joined in leaving Stamford Bridge by central defender Kurt Zouma as the  report that the Frenchman could head out on loan with Virgil Van Dijk expected to reinforce the defensive ranks in west London. With his potential game time looking limited, the Blues are hoping to find a temporary solution.

John Terry will leave the club in the summer but with Andreas Christensen returning to the club from his loan spell in Germany, alongside Van Dijk, 22-year-old Zouma is likely to move elsewhere for the season as Chelsea monitor his progress as he returns to full fitness after almost a year out of the game after a serious knee injury.
