Chelsea round-up: Lukaku contract update; Mourinho hits back at abuse; West Brom consider Terry move

Romelu Lukaku has told Everton that he has no plans to agree a new contract with the Toffees according to . The news means that they could be forced to sell their star man this summer, with only two years left on his existing contract, amid interest from Chelsea in bringing the Belgian back to his former club, say .

The 23-year-old has scored 20 goals in 29 games so far this season to be one of the most prolific strikers in England, continuing his form of the past three seasons at Goodison Park. Lukaku may have spent most of his frustrating spell at Chelsea out on loan previously, could be tempted to prove his point by returning.

The manager who decided to sell him was Jose Mourinho, who returned to the club for the second time this season with Manchester United and reacted angrily to abuse aimed his way by fans as he told the press, reported by the :

“They can call me what they want. I am a professional. I defend my club. Until the moment they have a manager that wins four Premier Leagues for them, I’m the No 1. When they have somebody who wins four Premier Leagues for them, I’ll be No 2. For this moment, Judas is No 1.”

The Portuguese coach, who had two spells in charge in west London, has suffered defeat on both of his visits to his former stomping ground this campaign.

Someone who is unlikely to ever face abuse from the Chelsea faithful is captain John Terry, despite rumours continuing to link him with a move away but remaining in the Premier League. Now, West Brom manager Tony Pulis has revealed that they are interested in the ex-England captain as the  quote him as saying:

“In January he wanted to stay with Chelsea. He wanted to stay there and be part of going out as a champion. I’m not sure how many times he’s won it with them but John wanted to stay there. If he becomes available in the summer, we’ll sit down and have a little think about what we’ve got and what we haven’t got and we’ll take it from there. Whether the situation changes, whether other people are involved or whether he signs another contract at Chelsea, we’ll have to wait and see.”

Terry has not made a Premier League start since September with his only three appearances of 2017 coming in the FA Cup, despite not featuring on Monday night against Manchester United, and looks likely to leave when his contract expires in the summer.
