Chelsea round-up: Enquiry for Bayern defender; Swansea star remains a target; Serie A defender’s move hijacked

Antonio Conte is continuing his efforts to improve his squad ahead of a Premier League title defence and the  say that Chelsea have made an enquiry into Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng. The former Manchester City man could lose his regular first team spot in Germany with several new arrivals already this summer and could be tempted into a move.

The German international would not come cheaply but Conte has made it clear that he wants more depth in defence, with John Terry already having left and doubts surrounding the futures of Nathan Ake and Kurt Zouma. In Boateng, the Blues would have a top quality addition.

One slightly less high profile addition could be Swansea’s Fernando Llorente, according to . They say that the experienced Spaniard could be one of two strikers to join the club this summer alongside Romelu Lukaku as part of a new look attack, with Diego Costa likely to leave and doubts over Michy Batshuayi.

The 32-year-old scored 15 goals for the Welsh club as they narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League. Having worked with Antonio Conte at Juventus previously, Llorente could provide a strong aerial presence and target man up-front with the prolific Belgian.

He could be joined by Kostas Manolas, as the  say that the Blues could hijack his proposed move to Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg. The Greek international has impressed in Serie A with Roma and is in advanced talks with the club over a £26 million move but may prefer a move to England.

Manolas is a player who Conte knows well having tracked his progress whilst in Italy, having previously played for AEK Athens and Olympiacos before leaving his home country. Now the 26-year-old could have a shot at the Premier League as the next step in his career.
