Chelsea round-up: Conte wants top Premier League striker; Atletico want Costa; La Liga man linked

claim that Antonio Conte has told Chelsea bosses that he wants the club to bring Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge in the summer as he seeks to add firepower in a shallow department of the team. Fuelled by doubts over Diego Costa’s future, the Belgian could become a top target for the Blues when the window re-opens.

The Everton forward has been prolific ever since his move to Goodison Park but could now make a return to his former club where he failed to make the grade before being sold to the Toffees in 2014.

However, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has revealed that he doesn’t think that Chelsea will sell Diego Costa despite rumours and speculation about his future beyond the end of this season. Both  and the  quote Cerezo in an interview with in which he said:

“It has been a while since I spoke to him. He is at a great club. They [media] say he will go to China, but Chelsea will not allow him to leave. I would love for Costa to return but it’s not easy. He plays for a strong team, a team that is likely to win the Premier League. I don’t think the big teams will allow their top players to leave.”

The Spaniard produced a sub-par performance at the weekend against Arsenal but seems to be happy to remain at the club until the end of the campaign at least. Whether or not he will make a return to Atlético Madrid remains to be seen but could be one of the transfer sagas of the summer.

One man who could make the journey the other way, coming from Spain to London, is Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo, claim . The 22-year-old can play anywhere along the right-hand side and would be a perfect fit for the right wing-back role currently occupied by Victor Moses.

The Portugal international is very highly rated in Spain and has been tipped for big things, with a number of clubs said to be monitoring his development at struggling Valencia.
