Chelsea round-up: Conte set to agree deal; Terry destination revealed; two clubs chase young defender
Initial talks have begun on a new contract for Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, according to the . The deal is expected to be agreed and signed off in the summer to keep the Italian at the club until the summer of 2021, representing a contract extension of an additional two years as a reward for the club’s performance this season.
Conte has been linked with a move away to Inter Milan in the last few days, but Roman Abramovich and co. are desperate to retain their manager after he has transformed the club’s fortunes this season after a dreadful campaign last year under Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink.
One man who is set to leave the club at the end of the season is captain John Terry, as the claim that he is expected to leave the club to sign for MLS side LA Galaxy, following in the footsteps of his former England teammates and fellow captains Steven Gerrard and David Beckham.
The 36-year-old is likely to wait until the end of the season and join the Los Angeles-based club in July, when the second transfer window opens for the MLS, as Gerrard did when he moves to the States.
The future of a potential replacement, Nathan Ake, is also in doubt, as the say that both Bournemouth, where he spent time on loan this season, and Southampton are lurking and considering a move for the defender in the summer, either on loan or with a permanent transfer.
Ake was recalled by Antonio Conte in January after his impressive performances for the Cherries but has so far failed to play much of a role at the club which has frustrated the Dutchman.
