Report: Chelsea now hoping ‘amazing’ player Arsenal want will follow Sterling to Stamford Bridge

There doesn’t seem to be much hope for Arsenal now when it comes to signing Raphinha, with Chelsea hoping the Brazilian follows Raheem Sterling to London.

reports how Chelsea are hoping to complete a deal to sign Sterling in the coming days and once that deal is done, Thomas Tuchel is also hopeful of landing Raphinha. It’s claimed a £55m fee has been agreed with Leeds, but the player is waiting to see if Barcelona stump up the cash.

Of course, as time ticks by, Chelsea and Barcelona seem to push Arsenal further down the pecking order here. The Gunners have wanted to sign Raphinha and a deal was said to be close at one point. However, reports have claimed Chelsea have offered the winger more than £100k-a-week at The Bridge, and they’re now favourites among the English clubs.

The ‘‘ Raphinha will be the second big name to leave Leeds this summer. The Whites have already sold Kalvin Phillips for big money and could now bring that income to over £100m with the sale of Raphinha.

TBR’s View: Raphinha And Sterling A Case Of What Could Have Been For Arsenal

You can’t help but think that missing out on that top four spot has cost the Gunners here. They’ve wanted both Sterling and Raphinha over this summer window but have now missed out on both to Chelsea it seems.

Of course, a move to Thomas Tuchel’s outfit is not to be sniffed at. They could challenge for the two big trophies if they get it right and with new owners, lucrative contracts are on offer as well.

For Arsenal, it’s still been a successful window, albeit without the additions of Raphinha and Sterling. The PL could be seriously exciting next season after a blistering summer of transfer activity.
