Chelsea now considering move for 23-year-old attacker, he’s one of the fastest players in Europe

Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David, with the Blues yet to sign an attacker this January.

The west London side have made recruiting a top centre-forward their priority this month, though a lack of sales has mean Chelsea have failed to do any business in recent weeks.

Should Conor Gallagher leave if current reports are to be believed, there could be room for Chelsea to finally move for a striker, and David could now be an option for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

, the Blues are one of a handful of top European clubs keeping tabs on David’s situation at Lille, with the forward linked with a move to Aston Villa and Manchester United this month.

With revealing that David is one of the fastest players in the division and beyond, the 23-year-old Canadian international could be quite the addition for Chelsea.

Yet with so little time remaining in the window, the odds of Chelsea actually landing David still look slim, especially if it comes at the cost of selling Gallagher in the coming days.

Given the amount of rumours currently circulating around Chelsea’s hunt for a striker, David emerging as an option is perhaps not the biggest surprise this January.

The Lille youngster is one of the most exciting attackers in all of Europe and a name that has been linked to the Premier League for some time, with Chelsea the latest club to be paired with David.

Yet with so little time left in the window, the Blues must now concede that they won’t be landing their world-class striker this January.

And as a result, Chelsea now have more time to consider who they actually want to sign, with David perhaps not the best fit for Pochettino’s style of play heading into the 2024/25 season.
