Chelsea: Move for West Ham star; Conte wants reinforcements; youngster wants assurances
The claim that Chelsea may launch a bid for West Ham’s in form right winger Michail Antonio. Antonio, who was called up by Sam Allardyce to the England squad but has not yet earned his first cap, has been in fine form this season playing at right back, right wing and as a striker.
This could be part of Antonio Conte’s plans to add to his squad in January as he confirmed to the press that he is looking to make signings as he :
“For sure there are some positions that if we are able to find the right solution it’s important to take a good solution. This championship is long and it’s important. Also I know the difficulty of January market and to find the right solution, to find the right player. It won’t be easy, but for sure we are talking about this. But I don’t like to speak about players that now are playing with another team. I think it’s respect for the player and also for the clubs.”
A number of names have been linked, but it seems that additions to add depth to the squad at the back and out wide are Conte’s priorities.
One man who could lose out from any signings could be youngster Nathan Ake, currently shining out on loan at Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth. He has spoken about his future at Chelsea, :
“I just try to focus. You can overdo things, and here [at Bournemouth] you get all the help you need. I am happy here. The loan deal is until the end of the season. I don’t look too far ahead. At the end of the season, we will see. It is too early to say [if he can make it at Chelsea]. There are still things to improve. Hopefully at the end of the season we will know more.”
Ake, who scored a vital goal against Liverpool only a few weeks ago, has been tipped for greatness but will have to first work his way into the Chelsea first team.
