Chelsea: Move for Manchester United reject; star midfielder up for loan; Luiz to start

The Blues could be set to make a surprise swoop for Manchester United reject Matteo Darmian according to . Antonio Conte has made it clear to club bosses that he is not satisfied with the depth of his defence despite the additions of David Luiz and Marcos Alonso, and could make a move for his right back during his time in charge of Italy to provide a long term replacement for Branislav Ivanovic, whose contract expires in the summer.

Jose Mourinho has made it clear that the 26-year-old has no role in his plans for the Old Trafford outfit and he is yet to play any role in any match so far this season, with Antonio Valencia favoured in the position. Coming just a year after signing for the club from Torino, Darmian has failed to convince in the Premier League, but his performances may improve with renewed confidence should he join forces with Conte again, with the boss getting the best out of him on the international stage in the summer at Euro 2016 despite some questionable form at club level in the second half of last season.

On the way out could be midfielder Cesc Fabregas as the Spaniard’s days at Stamford Bridge look increasingly numbered with just 26 minutes of Premier League action under his belt so far this season as he came on as a substitute at Watford and Swansea.

With no clubs said to be keen on a permanent move for the World Cup winning Spaniard, the  claim that a loan deal has already been agreed to see him move to Serie A and the San Siro to play for AC Milan, with a €3 million fee and a most likely obligation to make the deal permanent next summer, though the fee is unclear.

Conte is reportedly far from impressed with Fabregas since he started work at Cobhan in June and has been concerned by the former Barcelona man’s lack of mobility both on and off the ball, instead preferring more dynamic players like N’Golo Kante to keep his midfield fresh and constantly on the move to pile the pressure on the opposition. A move has seemed likely for some time now, and Milan finally appears to be the destination.

As news emerges that John Terry will be out of action for around two weeks with strained ankle ligaments, the  claim that it paves the way for returning central defender David Luiz to make his second debut for the club since signing from PSG on deadline day.

The Brazilian was an unused substitute at the Liberty Stadium last weekend and is now expected to step in to fill the shoes of the club captain in his absence as Chelsea welcome the prolific attack of Liverpool to the Bridge for Friday night football this weekend.

Luiz will be keen to make an impressive start after leaving many fans unconvinced by his abilities when he initially departed in 2014 in what would be a repeat of the fixture in which the 29-year-old made his initial debut for the club in 2011.
