Chelsea: Move for German; Terry replacement identified; Llorente wants switch
Antonio Conte is continuing to search for additions to add depth to his squad and the claim that Bundesliga star Jonas Hector could be the next target to challenge Marcos Alonso in the left wing back role. Hector, a German international, was previously targeted by the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham in the summer.
They also reinforce speculation that Conte could move for West Ham winger Michail Antonio in an attempt to bring the right winger to Stamford Bridge with challengers for Victor Moses and Alonso clearly a top priority for the Italian as the Blues push for the title.
However, the claim that the club will look internally for a replacement for John Terry, who is set to leave in the summer when his contract expires. The man identified is said to be 19-year-old Jake Clarke-Salter, who is currently on loan at Bristol Rovers in League One.
The England under 20 international is good on the ball but not afraid to get stuck in and, vitally, has come through the youth ranks at the club so could be a logical choice to fill in the homegrown role of John Terry when it comes to squad registration, an increasing problem for the club.
More immediately, Conte is looking to bring in a player he worked with at Juventus – Swansea striker Fernando Llorente. The report that the Spaniard is also keen on the move and would like to try to make the deal happen in January despite only moving to Wales in the summer.
A more physical option than Michy Batshuayi, the young Belgian is expected to head out on loan should Llorente make the move to London to partner or substitute Diego Costa, who has established himself as the clear first choice after a superb start to the season.
