Chelsea: Midfielder nears move; West Brom swoop for Ivanovic; Gordon latest
report that Serie A sensation Franck Kessie is nearing a move to Roma as the Italian club have are close to agreeing terms in a £26 million deal with his current club Atlanta, but the player would prefer to move to the Premier League.
The Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the last few weeks and has caught the eye with his goal scoring form and strong holding midfield displays in Serie A this season as the 20-year-old has shot to fame.
Despite speculation that Branislav Ivanovic is in the advanced stages of talks with Zenit St. Petersburg, the claim that Tony Pulís is set to launch a late bid to take him to West Brom with Sam Allardyce also monitoring the situation of the 32-year-old.
The Serbian is believed to have played his last game for the club as he made an impressive cameo, with a goal and winning a penalty, against Brentford in the FA Cup at the weekend. With only six months left on his contract, it seems clear that Ivanovic’s future lies away from Stamford Bridge.
Elsewhere, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he is hoping to tie down goalkeeper Craig Gordon after rejecting a £3 million bid for the goalkeeper from Chelsea. Rodgers :
“Yes, [Gordon] is very much a part of what we’re trying to do here. There’s no way I can replace a player of his quality and how he’s developed over the last six months has been fantastic. I really want him here, get him to a new deal and then we can keep continuing and move the whole club forward.”
With a list of alternatives, it may not be a massive blow to the Blues but it will delay the potential sale of Asmir Begovic if a replacement can’t be found.
