Chelsea linked with ‘phenomenal’ £50m star, fans should be buzzing – TBR View
New Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has set the bar ridiculously high at Chelsea. Winning the Champions League having not been in charge for a full year is nothing short of incredible.
The challenge now is to get closer to the title challengers. For him to achieve such an objective he will need at least one stellar signing during the transfer window.
For Chelsea to get anywhere remotely close to Manchester City, they need a striker. Robert Lewandowski has been linked and he’s the man to get them back into contention for the league.
It is thought that Bayern Munich value the player at around £50 million. When you consider that Arsenal are about to pay that for Ben White, the deal seems like a no-brainer.
Of course, Lewandowski earns but he’d be worth his weight in gold.
The Poland international is arguably the best centre-forward in world football. Now they’ve been crowned Champions of Europe, Chelsea have become an attractive proposition once again.
It’s not unfair to say that Tuchel lacks a world-class talisman in his ranks. Timo Werner has qualities but whether he’s capable of 25-a-season in the Premier League remains to be seen. Tammy Abraham could be sold and Olivier Giroud has already departed.
Signing of the Season
Signing Lewandowski could be a game-changing signing. During the 2020/21 campaign, he was sensational, scoring 48 goals in all competitions from just 40 appearances. Phenomenal was the word used by Bayern legend Jurgen Klinsmann during
Chelsea have a pretty decent squad right now, but it’s upfront where Tuchel is still lacking.
Tempting Lewandowski into a move to Chelsea might not be easy. He is settled at Bayern and he knows that typically he’s in a title race every year.
The project would be slightly different and could take more time at Stamford Bridge. If Tuchel can phone in a favour from Lewandowski, however, he could raise the roof in West London.
