Chelsea given hope in Victor Osimhen deal despite claims he’s about to sign for Al-Ahli

Chelsea appear to have lost the race to sign Victor Osimhen on transfer deadline day.

Enzo Maresca appears to have missed out on the Nigerian striker, Osimhen is reportedly set for a move to Saudi Arabia in the final hours of the transfer window.

However, as all Chelsea fans ought to know, hope is never lost until the transfer window is officially closed.

Indeed, if there’s any team that can make late twists happen, it’s the Blues, and according to Nizaar Kinsella, writing on the , there could still be hope for Chelsea in this race.

Victor Osimhen still prefers Chelsea

According to Sheth, Osimhen still prefers a move to Chelsea this summer despite agreeing terms on a deal with Al-Ahli.

“The Saudi Pro League club have broadly agreed terms on a deal worth around £60m that will see the Nigerian earn around £25m a season with, crucially, a release clause included in the deal for an early return to Europe,” Kinsella wrote.

“Effectively, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) which helps fund the four biggest clubs in the Gulf have done all they can to secure Osimhen.

“However, a move to Chelsea is preferred as long as they meet the terms asked by Osimhen, with wages potentially the biggest stumbling block given the new wage structure in west London.”

Victor Osimhen to Chelsea could still happen

The last few transfer windows have shown us that you have to be a fool to write Chelsea off in any transfer race, and this is no different.

We’ve been here so many times before where Chelsea looked to be dead and buried in a transfer race only to rise from the ashes.

Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Mykhaylo Mudryk’s moves to Chelsea all looked to be dead at one point or another, but, in the end, the Blues got the deals over the line.

Osimhen remains a player to keep an eye on, despite these Al-Ahli reports.
