Chelsea: Former striker could return; Costa latest; new defender on club radar

, in Italy, claims that the Blues could complete a deal to bring Everton forward Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge by the end of July. Whilst details of the deal remain unclear, the Italian paper claims that the Belgian is desperate to leave Goodison Park and would be happy to return to his former club in London.

For Chelsea, they will be hoping not to have to pay too much more than the £30 million they sold him for in 2014, but Everton are believed to be demanding at least £65 million, with Chelsea considering a first offer of £50 million according to the .

The striker could well be a partner or even a replacement for Diego Costa as the Blues look to bolster their frontline. This won’t be helped by reports in the  which say that the Spanish forward has been the subject of a £50 million bid from his own former club, Atletico Madrid. This follows days of speculation which seemed to be put to an end when Antonio Conte declared that he would be staying, but this reportedly rejected bid throws a spanner into the works.

Both Conte and Roman Abramovich are not known for their patience, and should Costa continue to remain uncertain of his future, they could well be tempted into letting him go, and if Chelsea can get enough money from his sale to re-sign the younger Lukaku, it could prove to be good business by the London club.

There have also been conflicting reports regarding the future of Juan Cuadrado as  claim that the London club are ready to listen to offers above £26 million, whilst the say that he will be kept, putting an end to speculation linking Antonio Candreva to the club.

With the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan said to be interested, it seems likely that there will be offers for Cuadrado should he be available. Antonio Conte seems keen to give him a chance to revive his Stamford Bridge career, but most at Chelsea seem to be at the end of their tethers with the Colombian, so it could be he first sign of a power battle involving the new boss.

There is also bad news regarding Chelsea’s interest in Italy star Leonardo Bonucci, with Manchester United now said to be monitoring the Juventus centre back according to the , only pushing the price to sign him higher, days after speculation that Chelsea may be priced out of a move by Manchester City.

With Napoli also demanding an increasing amount of money for defender Kalidou Koulibaly given Everton’s persistence, the club have now been forced to look elsewhere and are believed to be close to making an offer for Benfica centre back Victor Lindelof, says the .

The 24 year old Swede is said to be available at £25 million, a bargain compared to the £45 million that Napoli are demanding. Lindelof is far from the full package but meets the requirements which have been followed by Chelsea in most of their defensive targets, though Lindelof also has the benefit of youth on his side when compared to the likes of Bonucci.
