Chelsea fans send Yankuba Minteh message after Brighton star’s masterclass in 3-0 loss for Blues

Chelsea fell to a comprehensive 3-0 defeat away at Brighton & Hove Albion in Friday night’s Premier League encounter at the Amex Stadium.

Kaoru Mitoma opened the scoring for Brighton in the 27th minute before Yankuba Minteh weighed in with a brace in the 38th and 63rd minute of the game.

It was Chelsea’s second defeat to Brighton in the space of seven days after the Seagulls won 2-1 in their FA Cup fourth-round tie on the south coast last Saturday.

Blues fans all had a lot to say about Minteh after his impressive display against Enzo Maresca’s hapless charges on the night.

Chelsea fans agree Yankuba Minteh hammered their team amid jokes of summer bid plans

A number of Chelsea fans joked that their club’s ownership would make a big-money bid for Minteh in the summer.

One fan wrote: “$150M for Minteh it is then, eh?”. Another joked: “Nah we’re spending $70m on Minteh.”

Meanwhile, another fan said: “The two sporting directors are but to bid 70mil for Minteh.”

Other Chelsea supporters, meanwhile, acknowledged that Minteh made a mockery of their team, in particular Marc Cucurella.

“Cucurella done twice by Minteh today,” bemoaned one fan. “Disgraceful performance… awful.”

Another said: “Minteh, special player”. And another wrote: “This Minteh guy was struggling to score and then Chelsea came along…”

How Minteh fared against Chelsea

Minteh delivered a masterclass against Chelsea. Alongside his two goals, he also made three key passes, completed three dribbles, and won 12 of his 21 goals.

In addition, Minteh chipped in with five tackles, one clearance and one interception, and both of his crosses on the night were successful.

All in all, it was a dismal night for Chelsea, with Jamie Carragher noticing how annoyed the travelling fans were at full time.

“Chelsea have been badly beaten and it could have been a lot worse,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“I am just watching these Chelsea players going across to their supporters and there are not many of them there and they are not happy.”

Chelsea are next in action on Saturday 22 February when they head to Aston Villa in a 5:30pm GMT kick-off.
