Chelsea fans react to performance of Thiago Silva during Copa America win

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva helped Brazil reach the final of Copa America this morning. Lucas Paqueta scored the game’s only goal after 35 minutes. Brazil will now face either Argentina or Colombia in the final.

It was the form of Silva that caught the eye. The Chelsea star was in stunning form and lead by example from his usual centre-back position. It was the 94th time the 36-year-old has represented his country and as a result, he’s deemed a mainstay on the international stage.

He finished with some desperately impressive statistics from the win in the early hours. He ended the game with a won all six of his ground duels and also blocked one shot.

Silva enjoyed a solid maiden campaign in the blue of Chelsea. He made 34 appearances in all competitions, helping the club to glory in the Champions League. Silva did, however, play just 39 minutes of the final.

The talented central defender is a born-leader and will remain an integral part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad next season. He is under contract at Stamford Bridge for one more season, which bodes well for Chelsea.

Now, the experienced performer could cap a fine season off in style. A final against Argentina would be mouthwatering and Silva could be tasked with stopping Lionel Messi.
