Chelsea fans react as Newcastle reportedly eye Marcos Alonso

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Spain international Marcos Alonso from Chelsea this summer as Frank Lampard looks to bring a new left-back to Stamford Bridge – and Chelsea fans have reacted on Twitter.

Alonso, 29, has been in and out of the Chelsea side this season – playing 20 times in all competitions for Lampard’s outfit. He has scored four goals in 20 league and cup matches, while also laying on three assists for the west London club.

With a new left-back signing, Alonso is likely to leave. The report claims Newcastle are in talks to sign the former Fiorentina, Sunderland and Bolton defender, with Chelsea valuing Alonso at a whopping £26million.

Newcastle need a left-sided defender, with Danny Rose and Jetro Willems only on loan. Willems does have a permanent clause in his loan deal, but there is no sign that the Netherlands international will stay at Newcastle beyond the summer.

Chelsea supporters have reacted on Twitter to the news that Alonso is reportedly a target for Newcastle this summer, and many have urged the Toon to complete a deal for their player.
