Chelsea fans divided over Malang Sarr performance against Aston Villa

Chelsea progressed to the Fourth Round of the Carabao Cup after a penalty shootout victory over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. Afterwards, there were some mixed reactions to the performance of Malang Sarr.

Thomas Tuchel opted to shuffle his pack. Several changes were made to the starting line-up, with Sarr earning a first start for the club since a free transfer from Nice.

He spent last season on loan with Porto. Frank Lampard opted to send him straight out on a temporary deal in order to play regular first-team football.

He is yet to make a Premier League squad under Tuchel, with the Frenchman so far preferring other options.

It would seem as though his performance last night has divided some of the Chelsea fan base.

Section of supporters praise Chelsea defender Sarr

Some of the supporters were pretty sympathetic with Sarr. It’s clear he hasn’t played for a while and they welcomed that.

It seems as though some supporters felt as though he showed flashes of quality, although understandably looked somewhat rusty.

Here are a few tweets from supporters who enjoyed the performance of the defender.

Some Chelsea fans not convinced with Sarr

There is a section of the fan base who have made their mind up over the defender after just a single appearance.

That might sound somewhat harsh, although Chelsea are a club riding the crest of a wave at the moment and only brilliance will survive.

The Blues faithful have been fortunate to enjoy a pretty brilliant six months and some aren’t keen on seeing Sarr any time soon in the team.

Here is one some of the more cynical supporters had to say…
