Chelsea fans discuss performance of Edouard Mendy during Liverpool draw
Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool at Anfield last night. The Blues played the second half with 10-men after Reece James saw red for handball on the goalline. After the game, Edouard Mendy won praise from the Chelsea faithful.
Kai Havertz fired Thomas Tuchel’s team into the lead. His looping header had Alisson all ends up and dropped into the net. On half-time came the flashpoint though. A goalbound shot was stopped by James on the line and Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot.
Chelsea stood firm though. The old Chelsea may hold folded like a cheap deckchair. Not Tuchel’s men though, they stood up to be counted and flexed their title credentials in the Anfield sunshine.

Mendy made no fewer than six saves during the contest. The second half saw him particularly good as Liverpool tried to ram home their one-man advantage.
Mendy has really established himself as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper during the last 12 months. He was signed from Rennes as a relatively unknown quantity but hasn’t disappointed.
Last season he made 44 appearances, keeping 25 clean sheets for the Blues in all competitions. At 29, he’s at the peak of his powers and Chelsea hit the jackpot when they signed him.
