Chelsea fans congratulate star man after memorable Euro 2020 clash
Spain played their part in a thrilling Euro 2020 contest in Copenhagen. They beat Croatia 6-3 and afterwards, Chelsea fans raved about Cesar Azpilicueta on Twitter.
The Spaniards set up a date in the quarter-final, winning a knockout match at a major tournament for the first time since 2012.
Azpilicueta was inspirational during the game. He played in his usual right-back position and helped himself to a first international goal.
He was on hand to score his team’s second goal, putting Spain in front for the first time in the contest.
Azpilicueta doesn’t get many goals. Since arriving at Chelsea from Marseille in 2012, he has found the net 14 times during 429 appearances in all competitions.
His goal tonight proved crucial though and sees Spain continue their run in the tournament.
The Blues star has been a real stalwart for the club. He’s been part of two Premier League title triumphs and lifted the Champions League back in May.
He’s a really underrated member of the team and looks set to continue his status as a first-team regular under Thomas Tuchel.
Chelsea fans delighted for Azpilicueta
The feel-good factor is firmly back in place at Stamford Bridge. Azpilicueta has been a huge part of that and the Blues faithful are delighted for him.
He took his goal really well this evening and his performance on the whole was superb throughout.
