Chelsea round-up: Courtois talks stall; Birmingham Terry wage set; Hazard hints at future

Fears are growing that giant Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could depart Chelsea this summer after talks over a new contract stalled, according to .

Courtois currently earns around £100,000-per-week, but currently values himself around the same amount as David de Gea of Manchester United, who earns double that wage. An amount Chelsea appear to be unwilling to part with.

Courtois kept 16 clean sheets last term as Chelsea won the Premier League title and is widely regarded to be one of the best goalkeepers in world football.

The club have already sold one goalkeeper this summer as Asmir Begovic completed his move to Bournemouth.

Another key player in the Chelsea XI, Eden Hazard, has also dropped a hint over his future in the , and its good news for Blues fans.

The Belgian forward, who has attracted heavy attention from Real Madrid throughout his career has said he wants to repeat his stellar 2016/17 season by winning the league and the club’s Player of the Year award again.

Chelsea have told Hazard they want to make him the focal point of the team for several years, but rumours are swirling that Real Madrid could swoop for the attacking midfielder should their attempts to bring Kylian Mbappe to the Bernabeu fail.

Fans will be encouraged by the news of Hazard’s plans to remain, though, as they look to secure a second successive title under Antonio Conte.

Finally, the cost of John Terry’s proposed move to Birmingham has been leaked by the , after Harry Redknapp admitted he had made an offer to the former England captain.

Terry ended his 22 year association with Chelsea last month, making his final appearance in the 5-1 win over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge, leaving the field to a guard of honour.

Yesterday, Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp said his side had made an offer to Terry, with wages rumoured to be worth around £100,000 per week.

Redknapp has said this is the best package the Blues could put together and it would hugely exceed the total earned by any of their current squad, but the former-Tottenham manager is confident he will be funded for a promotion push.

Terry has also been linked with Aston Villa, Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion and any move depends on his wishes.

Birmingham have put together an attractive looking offer, but whether he wants to drop down to the Championship is another matter.
