Chelsea: Brazilian set for £52million exit; Terry future decided; new deal for defender
Brazilian playmaker Oscar is closing in on a £52 million deal which will see him reunited with former Blues boss Andre Villas Boas at Shanghai SIPG, claim reports in the . Oscar is expected to join the new club in the coming weeks ahead of the start of the Chinese Super League season in February, having not started a game for Chelsea since defeat to Liverpool in September.
It seems the perfect deal for all parties, as Oscar does not seem to fit into Antonio Conte’s new system and can now depart to join the likes of his potential new teammate Hulk, who is said to be on a contract worth £300,000 per week.
Another man who could be heading for the exit is club captain and legend John Terry, as the say that the central defender has been told by the club that he will not be offered a new deal as a player at Stamford Bridge.
Terry has reassured bosses that he will not follow in the footsteps of Oscar and depart the club in January despite huge financial offers from China and is expecting to see out his contract which will expire in the summer. The situation does seem similar to that which occurred last season before the club made a U-turn, but with Conte expected to bring in defensive reinforcements, such a change of mind seems unlikely.
Elsewhere in defence, the club has tied down Cesar Azpilicueta on a new three and a half year deal, confirmed. It is largely seen as a reward for his fine form which has seen him become first choice as part of a back three.
The 27-year-old joined from Marseille four years ago but is now expected to continue his growth as he becomes a player of increasing importance for the Blues.
