Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has heavily praised Leeds attacker Jack Harrison

Ahead of Leeds United’s trip to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has given a glowing verdict on the quality of Whites attacker Jack Harrison.

Leeds face a tough away clash in the Premier League against in-form Chelsea on Saturday night, but do at least go into it off the back of their own 1-0 victory against Everton.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team will once again lock horns against Lampard, who was previously in charge of Derby County in the Championship and is now the manager at a club he’s got legendary status from his playing days.

Harrison, who earns £15,000-a-week (), is an ever-present in the Leeds XI as the left-winger and has made a decent individual start to the Premier League season.

The 24-year-old is currently on his third season-long loan spell at Elland Road from Manchester City, which is why he’ll be hoping to showcase his talent against the division’s big teams.

Lampard, who previously played alongside Harrison at MLS club New York City, has heavily praised him ahead of the weekend:

“Jack is a million miles from the player he was in New York, I hope that doesn’t sound negative in anyway because he was a real developing player at that point,”

“An absolutely love lad. I’ve got so much time for Jack. I keep in touch with him. I actually spoke to him the other day. The player he’s developed into at Leeds has been really, really impressive.

“I think he’s playing great football. He’s a threat, two feet, quick, runs, high intensity and he’s one of their major players in an attacking sense. I’m delighted for him and how his career has gone of, of course we’ll want to sort of nullify that tomorrow. His career has gone in a great direction, and it will continue too.”

TBR’s View:

Harrison is certainly one of the first names on the team sheet for Leeds, starting every league game he’s been available for so far this campaign in the top-flight.

The left-footed winger has a tremendous work-rate on the flank, plus he’s a great dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the ability to go both ways.

He’s going to be in for an intriguing battle against Chelsea and England right-back Reece James, who is a real powerhouse defender that loves to get forward as well.
