Chelsea are really hoping to sell £32m man and £175,000-a-week player this summer
Chelsea are very keen to offload Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen during the summer transfer window.
That is according to the Guardian.
So, what is the situation involving Ian Maatsen and Marc Cucurella at Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
Chelsea want to sell Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen
Well – according to the – Chelsea want to sign Genk No.3 Archie Brown this summer.
The Blues are aiming to sign competition for Ben Chilwell, and have earmarked the left-back as a target following some outstanding displays in Belgium.
You may argue that Mauricio Pochettino already has cover for the England international in Cucurella and Maatsen.
However, the Guardian believe Chelsea want to sell both this summer and undergo something of a clean sweet in the left-back department, aside from Chilwell.

Cucurella has struggled tremendously since arriving in a deal from Brighton back in August 2022.
The Spaniard has made just Premier League appearances under Pochettino this season, and given the fact he earns in west London, a sale would make sense.
In regards to Maatsen – who Chelsea actually accepted a bid from Burnley for – the Dutchman is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, although the Blues want a permanent sale this summer.
Interestingly – according to – the German outfit already intend to sign the Netherlands U21 international on a permanent basis, so Todd Boehly may only need to find a buyer for Cucurella.
Chelsea should keep Ian Maatsen
We can understand why Chelsea want to sell Cucurella.
The Spain international is not good enough to dislodge Chilwell, nor is he versatile enough to be deployed in another position.
Maatsen – however – is.

The 21-year-old can operate as a left-back, on the left of the attack, as a central attacking midfielder or even on the right of the attack, where he has played times this season.
Of course, selling an academy product generates 100% profit in the Financial Fair Play accounts – which is probably why Todd Boehly has opted to put Maatsen up for sale.
However – if Chelsea can avoid it – the man from Vlaardingen should stay at Stamford Bridge, due to his world class potential.
